Diablo 3

If there was one component of Diablo 3, one factor that really drove fans Barbarian mad, it had to be that the game required a constant internet connection in order to be played. A connection that inevitably had some issues with lag and consistency. Sure, it had some benefits in the form of co-operative play, but sometimes, people just want to be alone when they slay their way through Sanctuary. The game is now on the way to PlayStation platforms, and it looks like it may be going offline for those gamers.

“You can have four people on the same screen – no split-screen, we just zoom the camera out. Or if you’re offline…” said Sony’s John Hight before being interrupted by GameTrailers host Geoff Keighley in a post-PlayStation Meeting interview that BlizzPlanetGaming picked up on via Eurogamer. So what does that derailed train of thought mean? Offline four-player co-op perhaps?

Always online was also a feature that helped keep the real money attitude of the Diablo 3 auction house intact and safe, but whether that function will be available on the Playstation 3/4, is unknown right now. Speaking more about the port, Hight mentioned that the progress on the PS3 version of the game was “much further along” than on the PS4, but seeing as how that console is only out way later in the year, it’s not too surprising to hear that.

But if Diablo is really going to have offline capabilities, it’s going to be a move that can really help sell the game for that platform.

And most likely piss off PC gamers even further.

If this is offline and I can just click away, like in Diablo 1 and 2, for hours on end, I’ll be happy.

I distinctly recall Blizzard telling us that the Always online requirement was not a DRM, therefore they should do the same on a PS3/4, because the same benefits of always online should apply to the console.

Of course it was for DRM purposes. The funny thing? This means they must believe there is no piracy on console. The poor poor delusional people of Blizzard

If this is true and console does get offline mode then this is even more proof that the game was developed with the console in mind and that the PC guys were just a test run

If you can make boatloads of cash off of a test run then why the hell not right Blizzard?

    You money hungry, greedy…..

And you know what else? There next game will probably be console exclusive. Why? Because they will claim that we PC gamers are too whiny and pirates and and and. Forgetting that the only reason the console guys didn’t hate on them as much was because they didn’t but hurt them to begin with!

When Blizzard merged with Activision -> RIP Blizzard
When Bioware merged with EA -> RIP Bioware
Money is the only driving factor behind every decision, even if it’s anti-consumer.

Because one really needs 8gigs of RAM to see the full graphical potential of the Over Top View of a point click hack hack hack hack slash loot game.

SIs man. Imagine if the PS3 had a launch title that was on the PS2?… for $60 on BLU-RAY. Thats kuk man. They should just release Angry Birds with PS4 while they are at it.

This would be a travesty of the highest order! If they would migrate the PC to off-line as well, I would accept it, else I will NEVER buy a Blizzard game again EVER!
