Rumour: Elder Scrolls V is incoming

That’s if reports on Eurogamer are to be believed. Personally, I’ve been foaming at the mouth for a new Elder Scrolls game so I’m going to believe the hell out of this. Please, don’t make me think otherwise, I just don’t think my psyche could deal with that after four years of waiting.

Eurogamer’s Denmark site was the first to drop this news. Of course, they’re keeping their source close to them but they do claim that that source had official documents with details on the fifth game in The Elder Scrolls series.

According to the Danish Eurogamer website: “This source not only confirmed that the game is in current production, but also spoke briefly about the content – with fantasy-sounding phrases like Dragon Lord, something with The Blades – and that voice acting for the characters in the game is currently happening in the weeks to follow.”

Earlier this year, Eurogamer was told that Bethesda has been working on a game for two years already. That game is now believed to be a “chronological sequel to what happened in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion”.

Unfortunately, according to a separate interview in which Eurogamer believes they were given hints of a new Elder Scrolls, the engine being used for this is the same engine that powered Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Both of those games run off a heavily modified Oblivion engine. Let’s hope that that’s a rumour that will be squashed with an official reveal in the coming weeks. Until then it’s important to remember that there is nothing official about this, so Big Rubber Rumour Stampâ„¢ this for now. That being said, Eurogamer Denmark is sticking by what it has learnt: “The sequel to Oblivion is coming, we can hereby confirm without hesitation. It’s been a while since 2006, hasn’t it?”

This had better be true! I was really expecting an announcement on this at E3 this year… but nothing.

I also really hope there is a new engine, Fallout looks good and all, but that engine is getting OLD now.

TBO, I was expecting Fallout New Vegas to come with a new engine. I guess they dashed our hopes there.
