Hooray! More rumours! More HD re-releases! More reasons for us to spend money on games we probably already own in some other form! Isn’t capitalism great?

Kotaku has reported that a French gaming website, along with a bunch of online retailers, have let slip information on a Mortal Kombat HD collection (Kollection?) as well as a Prince of Persia collection. Both look as if they’re going to fit into Sony’s growing stable of HD re-releases for the PlayStation 3.

The MK collection looks set to include Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Ultimate Mortal Kombat III and a demo for next year’s MK reboot. The POP bundle might include The Sands of Time, Warrior Within and The Two Thrones. What’s more, apparently these bundles will be brought to you in threeeeee-deeeeee!

Warner Brothers (who now hold the rights to the MK intellectual property) and Ubisoft have yet to confirm or deny the existence of these bundles so for now, you guessed it, Big Rubber Rumour Stampâ„¢ away. In the meantime, if you can understand French, you can check out one of the sources for this; there’s talk (French talk!) of a rumoured Splinter Cell collection as well.
