Rumour: Mortal Kombat X Achievement list leaked?

I don’t usually write about things like leaked achievement and trophy lists, because for the most part, I really don’t care for them. I don’t go out of my way trying to earn achievements or trophies because I haven’t taken that Pavlovian bait; that “ding” doesn’t tickle the reward centres in my brain as it does for many of you. And yet here I am, posting a supposed leaked list of Mortal Kombat X achievements. The only reason I’m doing so, is because they may support a theory of mine.

Update: Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon himself says that the achievements are fake.

The whole list could be nonsense, a bit of fanboy twaddle based off the recent showing of factions and towers – but the story bits, featuring a “Civil War,” could point to my predictions of Liu Kang being one of the bad guys this time around and going up against Raiden being true. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria! Beyond that, all of the revealed achievements are exactly the sort of stuff you’d expect from a fighting game – bar one; one about the secret of the Krypt.  The list comes courtesy of Mortal Kombat fan site Test Your Might, who pilfered it from an unsourced forumite on GameFAQs. As always, take this with much salt.

The more I read about the factions the more I want to see how it works. It would be awesome if the winning faction wins the tournament and somehow affects the story in MK:XI That would get people heavily invested. Lin Kuei FTW!

I used to be an achievement whore back when getting them was fun. Like the COD Modern Warfare off-line 1000AP including the Mile High Club AP.

Then they started doing shit like 25AP to play on-line with one of the Devs. Then 25% was dedicated to on-line co-op, then shit like unlocking chests via an iPhone ap.

The last time I went nuts after clearing all 1000AP was in Batman AA, clearing all the combo mini games with massive combo streaks.

My OCD does not care anymore. Achievements have turned into DATA mining.

I finish a game and if the online is fun I dabble in it for a bit. Like with FC4, Iron-Seraph helped me and I him to get a couple that was only available in co-op. That’s actually fun to do. But if you are gonna spend your time trophy hunting you’re not having fun anymore.

Nail meet Hammer… Who hit you on the head!! 🙂 Totally agree man – trophy / achievement hunting = simply not enjoying it anymore, in my opinion… I always play through a game as is the first time – never look at the trophy / achievement list. If I unlock some, great. If not, who cares. Once I’m finished, and if I’ve enjoyed the game, I’ll then check out the list to see what’s what… And, as you say, if there are some that sound like fun to get, I’ll go get ’em. Otherwise, I move onto my next game. 🙂

Eksdom just fucks up everything. If we have loadshedding tonight when the Walking Dead is playing I might be considering Jihadism

I figured it was fake, though Ed’s been known to throw “cover your ass” twitter statements out there when people discover stuff ahead of schedule. But in this case, yeah…the list was BS.

I only care about achievements for games that I really love, or if unlocking achievements grants in-game items, bonuses or extras. Even then, I don’t go out of my way to get them. I play to have fun, and if getting the achieves is fun, then getting cheeves becomes part of the gameplay for me. As I got older and cared less I stopped worrying about them as much. I have 8 friends on PSN that are real life buddies that hang out with me in person, and that I play with online. I do not care. At all. About “being the best” or showing off to dickwad strangers online.
