Rumour: Tekken Vs Street Fighter In Development – E3 Announcement?

What, what? Capcom have been known for their crazy crossovers and we may be in for one of the biggest yet.

Both the Tekken and Street Fighter franchises are going very strong and have huge followings. According to thekartel.com, a “reliable source” has informed them that Capcom and Namco are working together to create Tekken vs Street Fighter.

They go on to say that it may even be announced as early as this year’s E3.

These two companies have already worked together once in the past with an action-RPG called Namco X Capcom, so this isn’t impossible.

What I wonder is how they decide which game will be the source for the main fighting system. Street Fighter and Tekken are very different games, with Capcom’s fighter including projectiles, and crazy aerial moves and Namco’s fighter focusing on hand to hand, close combat.

Are they going to be bringing Street Fighter characters down to earth, or will the Tekken cast be supercharged? Well, until it’s announced, it’s going to remain nothing but a rumour. Would be really interesting though, don’t you think?

I just don’t see how that’ll work. It worked pretty well for Capcom vs SNK, but with Tekken being such a stiff, CQC based game one of them would have to have its mechanics changed far, far too much.

Besides, I think Capcom are too busy with MvC to do another Cross-over at the moment.

Tekken vs DOA would be more better.

And I agree that this will steal the light away from MvC.

I think they may be further along with MvC than we think

i can see this working very well, but the game will not be balanced, street fighter characters are very overpowered, and have alot of projectile attacks, wheareas tekken is extremely combo heavy, but tekkens weakness is that most of their characters cannot close distance to their target easily and have generally poor mobility except for the mishima family, kin kazuya, heihachi and a few other characters like paul and the boxer dude and yoshimitsu. characters like makoto and lei fong in street fighter will be deadly and unfair because they can close distance quickly and move back quickly and im assuming that due to their lack of moves their damage will be upped a bit. I think the easiest solution is to strip tekken fighters of a few moves, give them projectile chi type attacks, and clean up their moves make them shorter, because in street fighter the moves are quicker to hit, tekken is quite slow and their large periods of time where the tekken character is vulnerable when executing moves.

hwowarang is the least defensive character and would be torn to shreds in this cross over as alot of his moves are slow and leave him vulnerable, unless you be cheap, but im not trying to encourage that

More importantly though is will Street Fighter become a 3D fighter, or will Tekken become a 2D fighter for this game?

    hey mate,

My name is Simon and i couldn’t help but reading your comment about Tekken vs DOA that would be gr8 although the guy that created DOA hates Tekken and called tekken 4 “a piece of shit” so I so do not think that they would be converging them anytime soon.

    thanks…tc

i think they can pull it off, i’m just hoping they adopt the tekken way of fighting cause for some reason i can not perform combos on streetfighter as easy as on tekken (super street fighter 4 vs tekken 6)
