SA referees at the IeSF?

Good tidings fellow gamer sirs and ladies! There’s a new way for us to get involved in international eSports. The MSSA is giving its members the chance to become a referee at the IeSF. This is a huge opportunity for gamers interested in getting involved internationally in this way.

The MSSA is asking registered players who qualify as umpires for South African Championships and are interested in getting involved in the IeSF eSports Referee Training program to grab some forms and submit it before 2 December. The program will aim to get referees across the globe are on the same standard and those who make the cut will get a chance to referee at an international level.

Just like any gamer taking eSports seriously enough to train and compete internationally, referees need to be trained as well. The interest might not be as big or popular as the actual competing at the events, but this is a step in the right direction, making yet another aspect of eSports as “professional” as gamers are often accused of not being.

So, if you aren’t registered with the MSSA and you’d like to get into these kinds of things then just give’em a shout on their Facebook page. I have to say I’m really impressed and happy to see South Africa included in these things, our local gamers just need to step up to the plate and get in there.
