Saint’s Row IV: Over a million served

It looks like Deep Silver’s acquisition of the Saint’s Row franchise from the smouldering wreck of THQ has paid off quite nicely; Saint’s Row IV has sold over a million copies in its launch week, which is not a thing to be sneezed at.

“We are incredibly happy of the reception for Saints Row IV as a critical and now a commercial success,” said Klemens Thundertits Kundratitz, CEO of parent company Koch Media. “The development team at Volition is second-to-none as a driving creative force in the entertainment industry and we are very proud to have them as part of the Deep Silver family.”

Saint’s Row IV is an absolute barrel of laughs, and is way more fun than it has any right to be, throwing crazy super-powers in to an already crazy game; very nearly like a spiritual successor to Crackdown.

On that note, the game’s getting its first bits of DLC today in the form of Presidential and Grass Roots packs. The Presidential Pack includes masks of four influential US presidents – Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Barack Obama and George W. Bush and is an absolute waste of $3, while the Grassroots pack, also a waste of money, contains farm-inspired costumes, a gun that shoots plungers and a double-barrelled monster shotgun.

Makes you wonder how Tomb Raider and Hitman could be seen as failures if SR is a success at only 1 million???!!!! Anybody here played SR4 yet? Is it any good?

Just make sure this is your type of game. I had to hand over R700.00 of my hard earned credit card funds to get this on Xbox…

SR4 is good, and its a looooooong game if you play the side missions (yes there is an achievement for it when you complete the side missions before the you complete the game)

The side missions are getting really repeatitive.. But the main game is really fun.

SR3 has its good moments but if your like me a huge gta fan, you will be like “thats so much better in gta 4” and well gta5 will put a further thought into your head.

I’m not really a GTA or SR fan… I’m starting to think that I may only like 3rd person action adventure games and then Fifa… The sheep in me is getting stronger!! I might give Splinter Cell a go, looks more like my type of game…

You can be a fan of both you know?

Also, at this stage you really can’t compare GTA to Saints Row any more. It’s like the old Sam Fischer vs Solid Snake yawns. At the end of the day, non-fans couldn’t give a damn, rabid fanbois fundementalists get their panties in a bunch (unnecessarily) and the rest of us, appreciate both for the freaking awesome creations they are.

SR3 had a metric ton of DLC, don’t want to know how much 4 will have.

Such an awesome little game. I haven’t been able to play as much as I want (because of Geoff and work), but after slamming aliens against a brick wall with my telekinetic powers and then blasting off into the air like an evil Superman….

All I can say is… I’m in love! Thank you Saints Row. Thank you for being so absurd and silly! Bless your tiny cottons socks Volition!

I must admit, this game is epic, bucket loads of fun, even though at first when I started the main mission, I had no idea what daaaa fuuuuu, was going on. XD All in all, love the gameplay, weapons, characters everything. On top of that, I can’t wait for the Mod SDK to be released by Volition, custom Lamborghini Aventador here I come.
