As reported on this weekend, Avengers: Endgame co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo held a panel at Comic-Con to talk about their Marvel work as well as what’s to come. The filmmaking brothers won’t be wasting any time getting back in their director’s chairs again, as they’ll be working with Spider-Man actor Tom Holland for a new drug drama titled Cherry. That isn’t the only Marvel alumni the Russos will be teaming up with again though as they’ve also produced upcoming cop thriller 21 Bridges starring Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman

During the panel, the brothers debuted a brand new trailer for the star-studded film and spoke about why they’ve decided to produce this movie.

Anthony and I grew up loving genre movies that had something to say beyond the genre, and 21 Bridges has Chadwick Boseman hunting down the [cop killers]. It’s one we’re very proud of.

Check out the new trailer below.

I have to say, this is a massive improvement after the first trailer. Maybe it’s just the city setting or the Hans Zimmer-esque music pumping throughout this trailer, but I’m getting a bit of a Chris Nolan/The Dark Knight vibe here, and that is definitely not a bad thing.

The film is the feature directing debut of Brad Kirk who has been steadily plying his trade as a prolific TV director, having worked on big shows like Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Dexter, Luther and much, much more. Up to now though, he’s never really stood out from the crowd much, so maybe the Russos’ help is just the right thing he needs to break into the big time.

He certainly has a hell of a lot of talent to work with as besides for Boseman, 21 Bridges also stars J. K. Simmons, Sienna Miller, Taylor Kitsch, Stephan James, and Keith David, and they’re all working off a script from House of Lies creator Matthew Carnahan. We’ll have to see if the Russos and Kirk can wrangle all these pieces together into a thrilling whole when 21 Bridges opens in cinemas on 27 September 2019.
