Shadow Complex Breaks Record

Shadow Complex is, in my mind, undoubtedly the gem of what Xbox Live Arcade is and what it could be in future.

Awesome visuals, addictive gameplay and all for an underserving price considering what you get. The game has also enjoyed immensely good reviews from around the world, breaking the 90/100 barrier on sites like Metacritic.

A great game does however not always mean great sales but this latest achievement goes to show that that doesn’t always have to be the case.

Shadow Complex has, this week, broken the record for the highest first week sales of an XBLA game on Xbox Live. If that doesn’t sound impressive enough, then try to remember that this has happened regardless of that Arcade behemoth known as Battlefield 1943.

Long story short, Epic is really happy, Chair is really happy, Microsoft is really happy and I am also in fact very happy to see that the game has done so well. The reason being that it means that more and more companies will be interested in pushing out some really great high quality titles for XBLA and PSN in the future and that cannot be a bad thing.

P.S: I guess the boycott didn’t do very well now, did it?

I think it just gave the game more airtime on the inter-webs. More discussion more people to buy the product.

Orson Scot Card, the guy whose work (books) this game is loosely based on, has some strong ‘rightwing’ ideas around gay rights and marriges etc.

Some leftwing tree hugging hippies don’t like that, it seems.

It’s definitelly the best value for what you get out of all of the xbla titles in my opinion. Glad to see it beat out Battlefield 1943. That game disappointed me with its minimal content. I love that people on the leftwing call rightwings intollerant when really they respect no-one’s opinions but their own. Don’t boycott an amazing game just because you’re ignorant. This game really made me want to get the book thats out and the one coming out, it’s that good.
