Shellshock 2: Run and hide

One of the benefits of working in the gaming industry is that we get to review the worst possible games without having to waste the money on them.

I don’t know if it’s just me but I absolutely love reviewing complete and utter garbage, not those games that could be good but didn’t quite make it but the games which really should never have left the development house and horrify us all that someone actually wasted their time branding the damn things…

This category has some notable titles in it such as Jumper, Yaris, Vampire Rain and The Golden Compass… and now it’s newest entrant is Shellshock 2: Blood Trails which has an astounding Metacritic score of 31 at the moment.

With it’s best review being a 38 from GamingXP whose lasting comments were

“Miserable graphics, poor sound and a story which isn’t able to fascinate – this game is a no-go. Maybe the king of no-gos. Don’t play this title, it will definitely be wasted time.”

and it’s worst being 20 from Eurogamer with a horrible

“Up against World at War, Killzone 2 and Halo 3, it’s a complete joke. The worst FPS I’ve played since Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.”

Ouch… seriously what is the point of releasing a game that you know is terrible, does Eidos think that this is going to help their share price or is it purely a sad attempt at trying to recover some of the development costs?

PS: As a last selling point, it has zombies…
