Sign up for the Rainbow Six: Siege Alpha right now

Rainbow Six is right up there with my all time favourite shooter franchises, with the Vegas run occupying a special place in my heart. The franchise has been dormant for a long time, and the cancellation of Patriots did little to help that. But Siege is making up for lost time, with an unrelenting focus on the meat of the series: online multiplayer. And you can sign up right now to get an early taste.

Ubisoft has announced a Closed Alpha for Rainbow Six: Siege, exclusively on PC. Anyone can sign-up right here, and pray to the pew pew gods of old for a ticket into the event, which currently has no specified dates. If you’re still not sure what all this means, check out the announcement below, which features more breaches than all the laws Nkandla is breaking.

Despite the lack of a date for the Alpha, you can make sure that your PC will be up to scratch for it when it arrives. The minimum specifications for the as of yet unoptimised title are rather tame, wouldn’t you say?

  • OS: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, x64
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core
  • CPU Speed: 3.3 GHz (Recommended), 2.6 GHz (Minimum)
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 / R9 280 X
  • VRAM: 2 GB

Rainbow Six: Siege doesn’t yet have a release date, but Ubisoft did list it as one of the games coming out during their next fiscal year. That means it could still slip into 2016 territory but will most likely release in time for the holiday rush.

Heard the main reason for the alpha is that there has been major issues when testing at the dev house. One minute into every game both sides surrender.

    Online multiplayer. Ai.
RIP Tom Clancy. Glad he’s not here to see what happened to that great series of games.

What? His game moved in the same direction as his books? He changed his style to appeal to younger readers so why should the game not move up?

I get that not all people like mass multiplayer, but… it is the way forward. Soon all games will be open world and a internet connection will be demanded. Also have a fucking day one patch!

Rainbow Six always had that specific feel to it though (book and games).

PayDay 2 still runs with the same idea of the old Rainbow Six where it’s all about good tactical co-op versus greater odds and they’ve sold 9million copies of it by Nov 2014. So I think there’s still a place for those kinds of games.
I definitely won’t be getting this. It doesn’t interest me at all. It’s a new Online Multiplayer game using the Rainbow Six name to get sales.

I get what you saying, I really do. It will be like making Splinter Cell into a multiplayer shooter. Or make it an open world game… The Division. *runs*

Still, they need to move where the money is, COD and BF make a shit load of money by making the same thing over and over. They just want their piece of the pie.

I will also miss the good old gaming days. Won’t stop me from trying new ones.

You have a point. And it’s true what you’re saying. It’s just sad.

There are people who enjoy the co-op games like myself, and now we’ll buy other games instead.
It’s probably going to be an excellent game, it’s just not for me.

“AS THE GAME IS STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS, THE CLOSED ALPHA IS EXCLUSIVELY ON PC AND LIMITED TO NORTH AMERICAN AND EUROPEAN PLAYERS.” :/
