Silent Hill takes a break before it's European release

silenyt-hill Konami has said via Eurogamer that Silent Hill: Homecoming will be pushed back to February 2009 in Europe.

The psychological survival horror game was expected at the end of October to tie in with Halloween. No reason was given for the delay, and the publisher was reluctant to discuss the matter further.

I’m pretty sure that Konami simply wanted out of a busy release period. And that maybe the extra time will even be used to address a few issues.

Silent Hill: Homecoming was released in the US at the end of September and has earned decent critical applause – resulting in a Metacritic average of 73 per cent.

Maybe releasing in a less “competitive” period could see Silent hill reaching more console disc trays than it may have had it released at the end of the month. I know this game may have sneaked its way back onto my “too buy” list again after being snubbed out by the likes of titles like Dead space and Gears of War 2.

    I agree with Strige Lives.
I think the reason why they pushed back the game was to have a closer release to Resident Evil 5 and maybe benefit from the fact that RE5 is not a real survival-horror anymore. Thus by comparison, people will turn to Silent Hill.

However Resident Evil 5 looks so damn good that nobody in Europe will talk about Silent Hill^^

That and the fact that i think that when they saw the review scores for Dead Space, they crapped their pants.

Taking on Res 5 aint that much of a better idea though, so good luck to them…
