No one could blame Silicon Knights for closing their doors considering their legal battle with Epic Games; $4.45 million damages would destroy most companies.
Although their CFO, Mike Mays, says that employees are still “very busy” and the studio is “definitely alive”, the company is down to just a few employees and has closed its office, liquidating office equipment and game assets. Polygon was able to confirm that their offices are now empty and available to lease.
That said, the core staff that were laid off have founded a new studio – Precursor Games, which has reportedly bought up art assets from Silicon for their spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Reform – Shadow of the Eternals. In fact, Precursor is hoping to crowd fund Shadow of the Eternals – although they are still a ways away from their goal.
At least the assets from SK, both human and artistic, aren’t being wasted. Oh, and don’t worry, Shadow of the Eternals is being built in CryEngine 3 – so no lawsuits should be imminent.

I had Eternal Darkness and MGS Twin Snakes and kept wondering why they never went next gen.
I WAITED AND I WAITED
So they spent half a decade BEING TOO HUMAN and farting around with lawyers.
I do not care anymore. Game politics is just as childish as the hobby.

Not to be funny or anything but the Header Image overshadows your article. How am I supposed to read with the twins staring at me.
