Silicon Knights wants to finish the Too Human trilogy

Toohuman

You remember Too human, right? One of 2008’s most critically and commercially ill-received games, Too Human was a perpetually delayed, over-ambitious effort  by Silicon Knights to bring Norse mythology to the Xbox 360, with a cybernetic twist. It ended up getting a pretty poor 65 on Metacritic, and sold fewer than 200 00 copies in its first month at retail.

It was intended to be a trilogy, and the fair few of you who enjoyed the repetitive twin-sticked Diablo-esque RPG might be happy to know that Silicon Knights intends to finish the trilogy.

Silicon Knights President Denis Dyack told Industry Gamers "We intend to finish the trilogy but no comment beyond that… You know, there’s very public litigation around that." That litigation he’s talking about? silicon Knights is still in the process of suing Epic Games, claiming that epic delivered incomplete code for their Unreal Engine 3 (the engine that powers Gears of War and many others), forcing Silicon Knights to rebuild the game;s engine. Not that they’d be strangers to doing that; Too Human was supposed to be released on the original Playstation in 1999, before development moved to Nintendo’s Gamecube the next year, and eventually the Xbox 360 in 2005 (before its 2008 eventual release). It’s still commonly regarded as the most disappointing exclusive in the Xbox 360’s library; though it’s not without its fans who’ve been begging for the trilogy to conclude. They can be happy, knowing that it might still happen.

The rest of you can continue to exhibit the same indifference that stopped you from buying the game 3 years ago.

It really is a pity that Silicon Knights will probably forever be known for this stinker, when they’re responsible for some pretty incredible games, including Eternal Darkness on the Gamecube and Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain on the Playstation.
