We’re all looking forward to the upcoming Skyrim next month, and like any rabid fan, we’re going to be pretty much incommunicado when we get our filthy, eager hands on the title. There’s just going to be so much to do, and who needs outside world distractions like loved ones and hygiene when you’re in the middle of a dragon-slaying quest?

While Bethesda is estimating that there will be around 300 hours of potential playtime in their upcoming epic, nothing could prepare them for how quickly one of their top QA testers could beat the game.

“The Speedrun is my World Cup or Olympics, it’s my favourite event that comes every three or four years”. That’s how Bethesda’s Todd Howard described the unique event, and what an amazing it was.

The Speedrun Challenge, which is a Bethesda tradition that is held once one of their new games is close to completion, pits the production staff against the top QA testers at the company.

This year, Sam “I am” Bernstein and Jeff “Live the dream” Browne faced off against the staff and each other, with Bernstein clocking in at an amazing 2 hours, 16 minutes and 10 seconds in game completion time. Browne was mere seconds behind.

Bethesda also noted that this years Speedrun Challenges took over an hour longer to complete, when compared to previous games such as Fallout 3 and Oblivion.
