Skyrim60dollars

Speaking in PS3M, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim director Todd Howard told the magazine that he thinks that games are too expensive, and that the industry would benefit from more games priced $29 or less, instead of the $60 new games currently sell for in the US.

That doesn’t mean Skyrim’s going to be cheap though.

"That’s a lot of money for entertainment, so I think the good news is that in certain markets – PC, iPhone, mobile – we can see prices coming down.” "But I do think industry-wide we would benefit from more games out at $19 or $29. I would try more games. Because I’m not going to try a game for $60. It’s a tough decision. That’s why people read reviews and previews, because it’s not only a money decision, it’s a time-investment decision. It’s not like going to a movie."

"I don’t put us in that category of course,” he clarified, suggesting that the hours and hours you’ll likely pour in to the upcoming RPG will be worth the money. In this instance, I’d agree with him. Skyrim is a game I have absolutely no problem plonking down a wad of cash for. but I’d certainly try more “unsafe” games if they cost half of what they do now. Of course, if people – in their millions, I might add, are willing to pay full price for annual releases of pretty much the same thing and are then willing to pay ludicrous amounts for those games’ DLC, I don’t see the status quo changing any time soon.

You get to pay full price for Skyrim when it releases on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in November this year. Look..it’s got dragons, ok?
