A sneak peek at the Pokémon X and Y demo

The Pokémon Game Show on 17 and 18 August was the first time and place for anyone to try out Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. Hopefully our guys get to punch children out of their way in Germany so they can also get hands on with the upcoming 3DS title, but in the meantime, here is what I can gather from around the internet.

First, pretty pictures:

As for impressions of the actual demo, it sounds impressive already.  Those who played the X demo started out with Froakie (or Keromatsu in Japanese) while those with the Y demo played as Fennekin (Fokko in Japanese).  Danny Bivens of Nintendo World Report described:

The demo puts players in the role of the female trainer, in a small, enclosed section of the world. My character was already wearing the roller skates that were shown in the initial trailer, making navigation pretty quick and smooth. As long as I was out of the grassy areas, I could move through at a pretty good clip. Gogoat, one of the rideable Pokémon in the game, was also available in a small enclosed area.

[…]

Unlike the overworld, the battles make use of the stereoscopic 3D capabilities of the system. The depth of field and the crisp, vibrant colors feature the same aesthetic found in the Pokémon anime and feels closer than ever to what the concept art portrays.

But why believe that when we can watch this video:

Okay, wow.  I’m excited for this title!  The use of 3D, the art and design, everything seems to have come together so well.  Pokémon titles don’t disappoint, but this one looks like it’s going to exceed everyone’s expectations.  If this is what the demo looks like, I can’t wait for the finished product!

that’s not gogoat. that’s actually skiddo, from which it evolves. both of them apparently have the ability for you to “ride” on them. although they look similar, you can tell it’s not gogoat from its face, which has the “younger” look of skiddo as opposed to the older, fiercer look of gogoat.
