Sonic Boom…actually looks like fun

Sonic-Boom

In news that might possibly reveal that I am actually 67 years old (DAMN KIDS!), I’m going to chat cartoons. Specifically the kind of cartoons that I would endure sitting through SABC 1’s blaring Simunye adverts every 15 seconds in order to watch. Sonic The Hedgehog had two such cartoons, one wacky and one rather serious for its day and age. And they were ace. The blue streak has been around in one animated form or another since those days. And his next cartoon actually looks…fun?

While it remains to be seen if the upcoming Sonic Boom games Rise Of Crystal and Shattered Crystal on the Wii U and 3DS respectively are actually any good, I’m more than happy to overload my cereal with sugar and sit down in my jammies to watch the new animated adventures. Here’s a trailer for that show:

Extra bonus points: Roger Craig Smith and Colleen Villard are back, reprising their video game roles as Sonic and Tails. Which means that Sonic is once again voiced by Batman and Ezio Auditore. Now to see if we can get the new Dr Robotnik Eggman to shout “I hate that hedgehog!”. The show kicks off next month, and it’ll be adopting an 11-minute runtime, as seems to be the norm these days with most cartoons. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to boot of some of the old Sonic cartoons and sing along. Look out, when he comes through, Sonic the Hedgehog!

I’m just commenting on my own article so that I don’t get stuck with yet another unloved entry in the Friday wrap-up.

D, this is actually cool. HOWEVER… is it a fan prep for another terrible Sonic game? Or will Sonic be reinvented? I am skeptically optimistic.
