Sony apologises for PlayStation network issues

Bulletproof

Sony’s PlayStation network has been down or malfunctioning disconcertingly often of late. Contrast the the now paid-for service with Xbox Live, which has been mostly rock solid, It’s not been helped by the 2.0 firmware update, which not only broke the network, but broke a number of PlayStation 4 units in its wake.  It’s something Sony’s really sorry about.

“Listen: we’re really, really apologetic,” said Sony’s Australian head Michael Ephraim, speaking to VG247. “Dealing with network and digital – I’m not trying to spread or deflect anything, but dealing on such a robust network is a tricky experience. The good thing is we’ve launched 2.01, which has fixed the rest mode, and has fixed the YouTube app.

“It was very unfortunate. We hate that. The network was down during the 2.0 release. It’s very unfortunate. Those things are gonna happen over time. We’re not bulletproof on those things.

“I think the good thing is, we reacted quickly and the fix is out, about two or three days after. So we apologise. Like I said, dealing with global network loads and concurrent users for a platform that is ever expanding because of our sales being so strong is tricky at times, and we’re not infallible.”

Sony was indeed quite quick to fix everything, with a patch coming just days after the much anticipated, much maligned firmware update went live. It took just a few days for the next patch to come too – and so far, it seems like everything now works as intended. That’s all very nice, but I think Sony has to do better with its network, now that it’s asking players to pay a monthly subscription to be able to play multiplayer games.

“Ripped off Dragonball”? IKR!! The movie’s name was “Dragonball: Evolution” such a ripoff. lol Even had the same character names and costumes from the cartoon. Akira Toriyama is gonna sue BIG TIME!

      /sarcasm.

The only reason that non-film exists, was for FOX to keep the rights a little longer…. Satan alone knows why…

Well they never made a sequel after that, so it could be years to decades before we see them using the rights again.

If they do that then there will be no more room left on the HD for PS Store PATCHES.
They will have a MENU icon for most popular patches on the PS Store soon. FOR FREE.

Dealing with a “robust network” is a “tricky experience”? Someone doesn’t know what robust means.

I can see him now – sitting in his office, whispering to himself:

“Tricksy little experiences… Filthy networks!!” **all said in the Gollum voice, of course**

They release this stupid hogwash the day after Japan calls a recession and MS is rated as the second most valuable company in the WORLD behind Apple? Are you going to cull more departments, more staff or more studios to fix their dodgy network should us paying customers learn to #DEALWITHIT ???

I also see the PSN network is scheduled for maintenance and will be down from 7pm tonight till 1am tomorrow (CAF time). So not too much online play will be done tonight, folks…

Good thing I couldn’t get round to Sherlock over the weekend then!! Will knock one of the cases out tonight!! Takes about 3 hours, and it doesn’t feel like something you can pause and continue later… Or not for my feeble mind in any case!! A full days work in the middle of a case would just not work for me!!

Nice! Yeah, I’m gonna continue with The Walking Dead – Season 1 – I think I should be able to complete the main story tonight (then it’s just 400 Days, the dlc story, left to play). Replaying it so I have the decisions on my PS4 for when I get Season 2. Such an awesome story – some seriously tough choices to be made.

Experience gained and Sony engineers level up. I hope they distributed the points wisely and do not regret it near the end.

Another Xbox fanboy article trying to misslead the masses with lies by comparing Xbox Live to PSN. You Xbox degenerates seriously need to find something new to cling to. Xbox Live has been having a ton of issues jackass, but it seems like it gets swept under the rug while everyone bashes PSN with lies and exaggerations. Xbox Live rock solid you say?

They need to sort the messaging system, ps store and what’s new servers always so overloaded at night you can barley use that’s if it works, 5 mins wait when receiving a message then another 10 just to reply is a complete joke put more server online it only happens at night works perfect from 7am upto 4pm UK honestly I could take a slow walk to my friends house deliver the message in person and walk back and it would still be sending. My connection is 162mbps and it’s on static ip with dmz setup correctly so that’s not at fault
