Sony copies Sega.. maybe not the best move

We reported a little while back that Kaz Hirai from Sony had stopped his meds and started spouting nonsense again about how it was a good thing that the Sony PS3 was hard to develop for.

Well Destructoid have been doing some great investigative journalism and have come up with an awesome find.

Now let’s guess who said this?

“growth won’t be possible on competing systems that offer a simpler architecture. It may be easier in some ways for developers to create programs for the competition because there’s less to learn and work with from a technology standpoint — but that means that developers are much more likely to run up against the limits of the system in a short span of time”

You may at first think it was our friend Kaz but his words were actually

“We don’t provide the ‘easy to program for’ console that [developers] want, because ‘easy to program for’ means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so then the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine-and-a-half years?”

The first quote comes from a Sega Saturn white paper… The Saturn was probably the best console ever to not win a generation, it’s weird how the world turns.

*Apologies for the slow return today, we are running on a staff on one…

One of the guys who I respect the most in the gaming industry had a conversation with when the PS3 first came out about how the PS3 is the Sega Saturn of this industry. He even went on to say that you will see Sony making the same mistakes that Sega made… but I didn’t realise how right he was!!!

Thanks Dawid22…. you were spot on!!!

We are almost 3 years into this Generation, when do PS3 fanboys stop saying, it’s too early to call a winner. 3 years is too early? Most consoles only last 5.

There are 3 horses? Kidding, back in that era there were only 3 horses as well, there can only be 3.

Well, there is a Pony (wii), Battle Steed (360) and Unicorn (PS3)

Pony is cute and cuddly and for girls
Battle Steeds are for warriors and temperamental,
and Unicorns are supposed to be these magical horses… if they existed.

What was actually the point of this article? This is old news. Flame Bait friday? I thought we were over all this.
Or was this like a soothing balm and Killzone 2 is the burn?

Well the statement was only made last week and the uncanny similarity was only picked up yesterday.

So it’s not really old news and I thought it was interesting
