Sony execs requested to return bonuses

In this world of over-the-top bonuses and excessive salaries for executives it is nice to see a group who actually appear to care about the company that they are working for… even if it does mean that things aren’t going exactly to plan.

According to Bloomberg the electronics giant has once again missed logging a profit for its electronics division for the last financial year and as such the board of executives has once again decided to return their bonuses for a second year running.

The bonuses are valued at between 30% and 50% of their annual salary and would be a severe knock even for these exceptionally well played individuals. There is some good news for Sony though, the company as a whole did bring in a profit for the last financial year, the nett income of $410 million is in stark contrast to the $4 653 million loss they made in the previous year.

There is some good news on the horizon though with the PlayStation 4 receiving universal acclaim so far and a solid release later this year would surely push Sony back into the black.

Here’s hoping the PS4 can float a company as big as Sony. I don’t want Kinect to control me

I really hope Sony can pull through. It would be sad to see them fail

Sony has no innovation and are already seen as a second to Samsung and LG. Their stuff is good quality but it’s just standard and that’s whats hurting them. And the same applies to Panasonic, Pioneer and Sharp.

Mmm “PlayStation 4 receiving universal acclaim so far” I agree, it is. But I will also be very cautious after their last promises failed to deliver in so many ways. Still, nice they are giving bonuses back, last time I checked I only got a bonus if I was doing exceptionally well, or if I had done the dishes/washed the car…

Good on Sony. Nice to see some people putting a company before their own greed. Well done, and good luck!

I for one will be supporting Sony with the purchase of a PS4 at the end of the year and if all games supports remote play, a Vita also! This is also a selfless act and nothing to do with the fact that I NEED those two items…

“for these exceptionally well played individuals.” Maybe if they weren’t so well played they will actually have some time to fix the company finances. ;-p

Sony’s profit includes the sale of multiple headquaters around the world. Even Sony stores in Japan have become Samsung stores. What did they do with all that PS2 monopoly money?
