Ever since the first PS3 hack was reported a question around how Sony was going to handle this has been circulating and over the weekend that question has been answered.
Apparently Sony has found a way to detect the PSJailBreak and if you are using it then expect to receive an error stating [Error Code 8002A227].
Which basically means you can no longer connect to the PSN and your PS3 is officially gimped.
What we don’t know is whether or not this ban is permanent as this is the same error message you receive if you ever receive a temporary ban for violating their terms and conditions.
Which also means Sony has the power to rescind the ban at any time.

UPDATE: A little investigation has revealed that the image provided by Moddingchip.com has been previously used on the Official US PlayStation Community forums, and already deemed to be a fake. However, Sony has said that it can identify those using PSJailbreak, and may seek to perform console bans in the future. You have been warned!

That’s right but i’m not sure if Sony can also detect the ports that are being built of PSFreedom/PSGroove for iPhones, Android Phones, PSPs, and more…

They definitely can detect it. They just haven’t done anything about it yet.
They might just wait for just before christmas, like MS do, for banning.

Not to Mr obvious, but online / offline console?
The fear of banning should not be the deterrent, but morality should.
