Remember how I told you about the issues with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn? And you know how Square Enix is giving people a free week extra to apologize for server issues? Well, now Sony is also getting on the apology bandwagon!

According to the PlayStation blog, Sony is giving a full refund for FFXIV for those who bought the game on the 27th or 28th of August. Here is what they said:

All customers that purchased the digital version of the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Standard Edition, or Collector’s Edition, from PlayStation Network on 27th or 28th August will receive a full refund and will be able to find the funds in their wallet as soon as this is processed.

In addition, the entitlements of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Standard Edition or Collector’s Edition will be reset and the title will appear again in the download list.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.

Wow, how big a fail do you need to get a full refund on the game? That’s really pretty bad news for FFXIV. At the same time, as I keep pointing out, the problem is that so many people really want to play the game. It’s like Error 37 all over again – the problem (at this point) isn’t with the game, but with demand and server capacity.

Does this mean that once Square Enix gets it right the game will be a big success? Or will the hype die down over time? At least those who bought special editions of FFXIV will get their refund and be able to afford GTA V.

Pffft. if only Blizzard would give the poor master race a bite back of the pie. Would have been rad if it was multi plat title, as I am reeling to get it on PS3 (couch co op ftw). Not entirely keen on dropping another 600 on a game I already paid 800 to play 🙁

I feel the same about it, though the co-op just seems so much worth it.
