Sony planning a massive PS Vita push at E3

I’ve not left anyone in doubt about my doubts of the usefulness of the PS Vita, I really see no purpose for the device at all. However Sony believes differently and if two different rumours are to be believed this morning they are seeing the PS Vita as a big part of the PlayStation future.

First up we have the official PlayStation 4 site now being branded with the much rumoured PS4 remote play ability. The exact wording being

Play your favorite PS4™ games on your PlayStation®Vita’s beautiful 5-inch display using Remote Play.

Now that still doesn’t confirm that all games will be enabled with Remote Play but PSMania have picked up that Killzone: Shadow Fall will be one of the first titles to utilise this functionality.

It’s a neat trick to keep gaming while heading to the bathroom but I’m still not convinced that it’s a system seller. Not at that price tag.

The second rumour for the day is that Andrew Reiner, Editor of Game Informer, has tweeted out

Sounds like Vita might have a surprisingly big show at E3

Unfortunately without more details we really can’t be sure what’s going to be shown but one of the possible big titles is Panopticon

So are you in the Vita fan park or are you also unsure of it’s possible success?

It was supposed to be a portable PS3. It turned out to be a handheld that had trouble porting PS1 games.

WHERE IS THE CABLE FOR THE HD TV? WHERE ARE THE AAA GAMES LIKE SKYRIM?

I already played FFX on my PS2.

I think it’s time they retire the Vita. Honestly.

The Vita is great, but it has way too many gimmicks. Near, Remote Play, Welcome Park, Party… I never use any of it. The one thing that really grates my carrot is the whole social and online aspect of it. Everytime I switch on a game, it wants to go online. There’s a leader board on every single Vita game… What the hell?! Let me play my games in peace and not have to worry about how much better X was at that level… Cheese and crackers.

Yeah unfortunately as far as handhelds go things like the DS win hands down simply because of developer support.

Hahaha, said no “so-called” gamer who doesnt know console release history, ever. Its a pattern that follows all Sony consoles, they always start off slow and then explode all of a sudden.

That statement makes zero sense. Said no “so-called” gamer who DOESN’T know console release history ever? So people who don’t know release history wouldn’t say that? Which means those who do would agree or what?

Anyhow, the PSP never really exploded… sorry. It’s rival sold twice as many and turned a profit from day one. Oh and the PS2 was selling like hotcakes right out the blocks. So it’s hardly a pattern for Sony.

At what point does a console get put to sleep? It’s been out for a year longer than the “FAILED-DOOMED-OMW-DEAD” Wii U and has sold about half and most of those in Japan?? But people are still trying to defib this cold turkey? Walk away man, nothing to see here, stick to big consoles Sony.

I like the little gizmo, and with PSN+ I never need to pay for games. 😀

I don’t see remote play as anything other than a gimmick and I find the lack of retail games shocking. Not sure if it’s an investment yet, but I guess we’ll see.

Is it just me or does the guy at 0:55 in the video look like Light Yagami from Death Note? They even have the life counters floating above the heads like in the anime?

Maybe they should just send all the surplus stock they have, and I am sure there is a whack load, to the MarsOne people. Can you imagine being stuck on Mars, forever, and only having a Vita to play? LOL

I really really hate this website, as biased as ever, Ninty fucks up with the WiiU, cause they yet again stab the hardcore in the back and decide to go rather with a gimmick again, yet everyone is just like, “oh no I hope they make it out, I hope theyre fine”. But just have Sony do the smallest thing wrong and everyone goes on a witch hunt. If youre a multiplat site act like it, youre giving the giming journalism industry a bad name.

I get what you are saying but I would rather have a site that is honest about it’s opinions than one that just calls everything great. I could use any major gaming website if I wanted but this is the one I find myself coming back to.

So basically they are marketing it as something that will turn your home console into a kind-of Wii U at the same price as a Wii-U. Sure why not?
