Sony PS3 costs slashed – great news for us

This news couldn’t have come at a better time for Sony and us as consumers.

The latest iSuppli reports are out and apparently Sony has managed to slash production costs on the PS3 by a whopping 35% leaving the console nearly breaking even on everyone sold.

iSuppli themselves expect Sony to start making a profit on each console sometime later next year, however that isn’t taking into account an expected price cut for us poor souls.

The PS3 endured a torrid year in 2008 in the media but it has managed to keep track of the 360 and with the rumours of price cuts starting now it really is looking like a more appealing option.

Now if they would just cut the Home development team and focus more on creating games and getting the console even cheaper.

Is 2009 going to be the year that the PS3 starts its domination? Well for now it is looking well placed and the 360 is going to have to start making some major game announcements to keep itself in the news.
