Sony shutters Seattle’s studio (and others)

George Broussard was the man behind Duke Nukem Forever’s original development at 3D Realms, he was also the owner of 3D Realms so it’s safe to say he has a few contacts in the gaming industry.

Earlier today he tweeted out that Sony Online Entertainment Seattle will be closed tomorrow along with some others and naming Denver as one of the others.

This follows on closely from Sony closing down a bunch of development projects in the UK which it announced were part of a portfolio review.

SOE however is a different division of Sony which points to these closures being part of a higher level decision, possibly to follow Activision’s lead and focus on fewer AAA titles with more resources and to leave the smaller titles for someone else to pick up?
