Sony has become the first of the console manufacturers to blink in the world recession when it announced today that it is embarking on a cost cutting exercise that will see 8000 employees lining up for unemployment benefits.
They will also be pulling out of unprofitable businesses in an attempt to slash $1.1 billion of it’s balance book, or whatever accounting term is used.
There has been no news yet as to where the cuts will be coming but I would be surprised if many of them are in the gaming division, however this does reiterate the belief that Sony will not be cutting the price of the PS3 anytime soon.
