Sony to reveal Grand Theft Auto 5 for the PS4 at E3 2014

1 min read

According to rumours posted by those notorious industry insiders; Sony will be revealing Grand Theft Auto 5 for the PlayStation 4 at their E3 2014 conference.

Rockstar never appear at E3 themselves and it doesn’t sound like this year is going to be any different but a few weeks back people were anticipating that Rockstar were going to reveal the PS4 version at a smaller show called “Destination PlayStation”. However Rockstar got cold feet at the last minute without reason.

And now the supposed Sony E3 conference line up has been leaked and the stand out item for me is that they will reveal Grand Theft Auto V will be coming to the PlayStation 4, immediately.

It would be quite a coup for Sony to get the announcement out before Xbox and with the PlayStation 4 outselling the Xbox One at the moment it isn’t a bad move by Rockstar either.

I don’t re-play games often but I’d definitely be keen to play through Grand Theft Auto 5 again on the PlayStation 4.

But what I’m sure is more important to the master race is that the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V is rumoured to be released at the same time which not only means you can finally enjoy Trevor’s antics but also that Rockstar are about to receive a massive windfall by selling another 20 million units.

They already made a shitload of money off this game, if people bought it for PS3 why not give it them for free again?

That’s what keeps things rolling in this world.
If it wasn’t for capitalism they would have not even bother to make GTA at the first place. And companies like SONY and Rockstar would not even exist in non-capitalist economic systems.

That would be really stupid. Why would they spend millions of dollars and thousands hours of hard work to port this game to a very different architecture machine, for no profit?
Also MOST of the PS3 owners don’t have a PS4, and the PS4 users are a very small percentage.

Yes , it cost developers lots of money these days to release (AAA) games, such as GTA 5.. Make no mistake if this rumor is true it would be easier for Rockstar to rebuild it and PC version over to PS4/Xbox one

Dummy? Cool. Anyway, obviously it costs a lot to release a game like GTA 5, but to port a game costs millions of dollars?….yeah, don’t think so

          • Josh Melton

            May 9, 2014 at 16:27

You’re Adorable, that’s for sure lets pretend the rumors were true” if GTA 5 were to be re-release for current-gen console it wouldn’t involve” minuscule”expenses, besides for better textures and faster frame rates, other graphical updates, one, would expect..

Many peoples, seem to forget all of the extra costs that would come with a next-gen port. it’d mean re-licensing ALL of the music in the game, it’d mean rebuilding and relaunching a whole, other marketing campaign..

it might mean, returning to contracts involved with VO actors depending on how their contracts were initially setup( though I’d hope they’d write in something original about future platforms, otherwise they’ll have a heck of a time getting the same rate out of actors. Who now know what a monumental financial success the game is..

So Yes, Million of Dollars my Cute Gaming Friend.. You’re welcome for the free lesson….

God damn you’re a smug SOB….you would think if they were gonna port it, that this wasn’t a spur of the moment thing, they knew they were gonna port it (if rumours are true) from the start so they would have already worked that into the costs…do you think they would spend millions again for a port??….damn your smugness is profound

          • Josh Melton

            May 9, 2014 at 16:39

My Cute Friend, you seem to be forgetting GTA Online won’t only be hard to port. it’ll be an on-going port that will probably last months if not years at the very least and costs of keeping those servers running, and those technicians employed isn’t cheap, in case you’ve forgotten, Rockstar likes to bull a fair few of their staff after it completes a major project like GTA 5 and then starts rehiring when the next large AAA project comes into town, like Red Dead 2 or other games they might be working on

Now do you understand ? simply, this is going to cost them a lot of money over a long period of time whatever small profit they make on the next-gen releases, not many will be willing to re-buy the same game they just beat on last-gen consoles, GTA 5 will sell 4 or 5 million copies, or more within the years, but not many,as it sold o PS3 and Xbox 360…

          • Josh Melton

            May 9, 2014 at 16:45

You’re So Cute, one more lesson before I go to work, We’ve also got to address the elephant in the room in the form of GTA Online’s MMO-esque approach to game design. Whether we’d like to acknowledge it or not..

it must be noted that GTA Online is something , that Rockstar wants to keep around for a long time, perhaps even branching across GTA Games, as such it’s going to need constant support, updates and the like, and you’re adding three more, systems into the fray.

Three more that’ll have to be moderated, monitored, kept safe, and
remain profitable. PS4, Xbox One PC..

            May 9, 2014 at 16:49

So Yes, if GTA 5 was re-release for PS4 and Xbox One, it would probably cost Rockstar millions of dollars to invest in that, counting all the factors I just mention…Please have a nice day and keep learning about game design…

            Enjoy your friendly cute Summer”

If Sony can somehow keep this title as an exclusive on the new consoles for only a year it would keep them in the lead comfortably!! I haven’t played this or The Last of Us so I will be buying both on my PS4!! Whoop Whoop!!

Rockstar would never keep GTA 5 exclusive” on PS4 for a year, shareholders would never allow it, most of all it hurts potential customers”, they made that mistake before on Xbox 360 and promised never to do that again.

First and foremost let me make one thing clear – I’m a PC gamer. I
don’t own a console as I prefer my games to come with all the extra
graphical bells and whistles a good spec PC can provide. I also prefer
the extra level of control I get with a mouse and keyboard. No onto the
subject at hand. I’m fairly confident that a PC version of GTA 5 will be

Not sure, Sony & MS, already have paid Rockstar a lot of money to keep it exclusive on PS3 and XBox 360. This was in an attempt to clear as many platforms as possible before the current gen consoles released last year

When the allotted time frame brokered in the deal with

MS and Sony has been reached, then R* will probably release GTA 5 on PC, but I do believe Sony & Xbox might have paid, Rockstar again, to change their shareholders minds and,re-release the game over to PS4/Xbox One if this is true..

Because, they have no obligation to bring GTA5 to current-gen consoles not with the install base so small right now” they would have to look at the numbers of how many brought, GTA 5 on last gen consoles, than get a estimate of maybe getting four to five million peoples to re-purchase the game on PS4, Xbox One, another 3 million pour in slowly on the PC side( thanks to Steam sales..

The Take 2 Shareholders are already happen with GTA 5 sales, and it probably would be quicker for Rockstar to make a profit on GTA 6.. Simply because we’re not sure how many would buy, GTA,5 again at high end price that we see in today’s games

if.this rumor is true? I’m sure Sony & MS paid R* alot of money to make the investment worth it, to buy GTA 5 on their new consoles instead of working on GTA 6…

Gives Sony more time, not to rush their games…

Each PS4 game cost $59.00 + tax with all the money you spend on games you can buy a good gaming PC. If you think about it Rounding it up to $60.00 per games if you buy 4 PS4 games that cost $60.00 each if you add it up you will get a total of $240 bucks. If you buy 10 PS4 Games and each cost $60.00 each the total is $600 dollars. Now if you buy 20 PS4 Games and each cost $60.00 it Adds to a whopping $1200 dollars. What you will spend on 20 PS4 games you can buy a good gaming PC probably with 4k.
