Sony’s cracking down on PS5 owners who exploit the PS Plus Collection

Sony may not have a pound for pound rival to Xbox Game Pass, but it’s PS Plus Collection is a step in the right direction if you’re a fan of a digital games and having a fist tight enough to compress coal into diamonds. The idea isn’t too bad: Grab a PS Plus subscription, gain access to a selection of first-party PlayStation 4 games and a few third-party gems. Thanks to PS Plus, I now finally have access to Persona 5, which allows me to uphold the pact I made with Alessandro.

THE PACT.

Like all good things, the service has of course been exploited. Metaphorical light bulbs lit up above the heads for some PS5 owners, who have started selling access to their account. Sony has caught wind of this though, started investigating, and also started swinging the ban hammer at people who have essentially been offering an el cheapo tour of its gaming vault according to Gamer Braves.

“When you have more than 50 different accounts logged on to a console and make purchases at the PS Store in another region, the system will detect and determine that it has been hacked,” Sony said.

The account will be banned for two months, while the console will be banned permanently. Currently, it is being negotiated in the customer service if there is any change in the situation, but the joint purchase is really violating the rules and regulations, and there was a mechanism to protect the hacked account from further abuse.

While there is a way for one account to be split across two consoles with a friend, doing so with a few dozen people probably isn’t a good idea when you consider that our species as a whole has a bad habit of being kind of crap to one another. Anyway, don’t do the Sony crime if you can’t handle the Sony time.

Well 2 things here. One is Sony isn’t at fault. They don’t control retailer’s websites. Sony can’t stop Amazon or Walmart on how they sell their consoles. It’s the retailers website and their fault. One way to stop the bots would be to put in a captcha of some sort. Like ones where they have you select 3 pictures of something or where you enter a word or alphanumeric sequence. Both Sony and MS only allow 1-2 consoles bought at a time on their sites.

That’s the point though. They have no control over how many end up at a home. A control to weed out bots is a step in the right direction, but they can’t control how many you buy. They can limit how many per transaction and limit how many you buy from their store. But they can’t stop me from buying one from them and another from someone else.

Agreed, what IS Sony’s fault is that they don’t have talented devs, they have an extremely weak first party with maybe 3 good developers tops, maybe 4 if you like baseball

It’s not illegal to do it, so what can they do? Oh, nothing. It sucks, but it’s life.

Just because something isn’t illegal doesn’t mean they have to allow it. They COULD do something to curb it, but they refuse to.

The easiest way to get the scalpers is not buying them anything… If there’s some one willing to pay anything for a PS5, there’s some one willing to sell it at that “anything” price… Offer and demand.

Couldn’t have said it better, anybody who pays upwards of 1K for a 500 system is stupid, has no self control and is a major part of the reason why smart people can’t get one.

You’re right, worse things going on and this is what the choose to focus on? What about getting more systems on shelves, punishing stores who do not deal with bots buying up the supplies.

I work in retail for a wholesale club. We all wear a mask now and wash our hands more than a doctor. Exactly right, put the console’s on the shelves and avoid online sales, pandemic or not, otherwise, we will be forced to buy via third party for the systems. Everything that is sold online, I have seen about 75% listed on ebay right after. If people paid fmv for them, maybe people wouldn’t be buying games from random people and sony would be making money on the software end. Console sales might be up but the real money maker is the games.

Lol I love the anti-communism picture.

Communism has been as destructive and genocidal as the National Socialist Party

What’s worse than that has been capitalism. Socialism has been benefiting most 1st world countries for a while, while the US continues on its decline. Thankfully we are now trying to move in the right direction

The issue with your comment is that both communism and capitalism has aspects of each other. Our capitalist society has socialist programs proping it up and vice versa.

Communism yes. Although, there’s a very large amount of people who don’t believe the holocaust happened. So, if someone doesn’t believe the holocaust was true then there’s not one bad thing that can be said about the NSDAP.

I guess it’s the owners fault that this exploit exists and not the actual engineers. I did this one time for a friend not thinking anything of it but now they want to come out and make a ban announcement lol
