So… Sony upset a lot of people when they let the PSN get hacked, resulting in a ton of downtime.

By now, you all already know that Sony have put a “We’re Sorry” plan into place that involves free PS Plus and some free games to download as well. The problem is… how big are the games? Do you have enough space on your HDD and for us South Africans.. do you even have enough bandwidth to download them?

Here’s the download sizes as well as a simple trick to secure your games for later.

Now remember, this only applies to you if you already had a PSN account before 19 April 2011. Also, even though there are 5 games to choose from, you only get to download two, so choose wisely. Here’s the list of games and he estimated download sizes:

————

U.S:

inFamous – 6.88 GB

LittleBigPlanet – 2.21 GB

Wipeout HD/Fury – 738 MB

Dead Nation – 1.39 GB

Super Stardust – 290MB

————

E.U

LittleBigPlanet – 2.21 GB

Infamous – 6.88 GB

Wipeout HD/Fury – 738 MB

Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty – 2.4 GB

Dead Nation – 1.39 GB

————

Ok, so you want your two free games, but you don’t have the hard drive space or are stuck with nothing but a 3G account for the month? No problem. Here’s what you do:

Just go into the store, and then start your download as if you were going to download it normally and then stop the download. The game has then technically been ‘purchased’ and so, just needs to be downloaded when you have the time or the space.

Remember, that the free games will only be available for 30 days from the day that PSN goes back up, so I suggest you make your decision, line the game up within the 30 days and then from that point on you can get to a friend with uncapped, or clear out some HDD space at your leisure because the game then belongs to you regardless.
