Sony has recently changed their reporting technique to report on consoles sold to customers and no longer shipped to retailers. So obviously it was expected that the third quarter results would be worse than predicted.

However it seems that timely price cut really did make all the difference. The gaming division actually made an operating profit in Q3 2007 of 12.9 billion Yen. Which is a pretty impressive amount compared to the 54 billion loss they made in the same period the year before.

Does anybody know what the losses are for the PS3 – The USD 3 bio losses that SCE have posted in 07/08 includes the profits generated by PS2 & PSP

@Boredhousewife, unfortunately not but I have heard from a few places now that the price of manufacturing a PS3 has dropped drastically and they are now only losing a small amount on each PS3
