Today’s news is all about the PSP2, or NGP as Sony’s calling it for the time being. Like Miklós, I was hoping the PSP2 wouldn’t be compelling enough for me to want one. My hopes have been dashed, and I’m already stashing pennies away for some portable Uncharted.

Let’s hope that its got tighter security than its big brother the PS3 though, because that sucker’s vulnerable.

Not long ago, Sony released firmware 3.56 for the PS3. As expected, it’s a minor update that contains nought but security fixes, particularly ones that disable the homebrew unleashed when the PS3’s root keys were publicised. Word is the update contains some new keys.

Hackers, apparently, have already discovered those keys and have hacked 3.56, making the system vulnerable all over again. You know what this means, right? It means Sony’ will be rolling out another update soon. i hope you all enjoy the tumult of regular firmware updates as much as I do!, Yay!

I’m really, really glad Sony implemented incremental updates, because if I had to download 150Mb+ updates all the time I’d be pissed.
