Deus Ex all conspiracy like

Square Enix has filed a trademark pointing towards a title that could be the new Deus Ex game. Here’s what I think will go down.

The name Squeenix filed for is “Deus Ex: Human Defiance,” so if this is indeed the next title in the franchise – which it probably is – it’ll go something like this:

“After the revolution of cybernetically augmented human beings for the betterment of mankind, society’s deepest fears realize. Instead of a technological marvel, the planet has fallen into poverty and turmoil. However, an underground organization called [insert name here] operates in secret to rebel against the corrupt powerhouse [insert company name here] controlling the world. Before mentioned secret rebel organisation inspires the masses to rise up against and overthrow before mentioned corrupt powerhouse.”

Enter Adam Jensen! As the washed-up, once great hero. He is recruited by this secret rebel organization and then you own shit with guns and awesome cybernetic stuff.

Here are some details on the trademark application discovered by NeoGAF:

“Nice classification: 9, 16, 41” Now I don’t know what “nice classification” is, but sure, I mean Deus Ex: Human Defiance sounds pretty nice to me. The numbers 9, 16, 41 refer to the following:

Nice class number:

9

List of goods and services:

Computer games software; computer games, comprising computer software; video games, comprising computer software; video games software; games for mobile phones, comprising computer software; computer software for computer games, video games and games for mobile phones supplied on line by means of multi-media electronic broadcast or network transmission; publications in electronic form or other data provided by means of multi-media electronic broadcast or network transmission; disks and tapes pre-recorded with computer game software, video game software, feature film entertainment or other electronic publications.

Nice class number:

16

List of goods and services:

Printed matter; books; educational and training materials; computer game strategy guides; stationery; magazines and periodicals; newssheets; and newsletters; photographs, postcards and posters; comics, comic books, and cartoons.

Nice class number:

41

List of goods and services:

Entertainment services; online entertainment services; online computer game services; computer game services provided remotely by means of the Internet; publishing; information and advisory services in the field of entertainment, computer games and publishing.

Which can only mean that they’ll make a game, release an action figure and book as they did with Deus Ex: Human Revolution, have some kind of mobile app and make a short film or two.

This is my guess at least, because what else is out there? Make a movie? They’re already doing that… Oh and don’t forget! Deus Ex: Human Defiance will release on next-gen consoles.

No! Don’t say such things! Somewhere it must have a heart! Although, it might be free to play. You can buy the energy candy with real world money?

I loved the last game, bar the awful boss fights. This is a smart move by SquareEnix.
