Star Citizen just won’t stop raising cash

StarCitizenIt was just a few days ago that Roberts Space Industries announced that it had secured $29 million of your money in crowd-funding to make Star Citizen, breaking its own cash-collecting records. That total has now exceeded its latest milestone, by raising more than $33 million.

As with all new Star Citizen milestones, this new milestone means the game is getting something new and shiny – in this case, it’s the Anvil Carrack

“The Anvil Carrack has been the vanguard of every UEE exploration effort in recent years. Featuring reinforced fuel tanks for long-duration flight, a highly advanced jump drive array and a dedicated computer core room that allows it to put the maximum processing power into jump charting operations. Originally a military exclusive, the Carrack is now available for civilian use as a pathfinder spacecraft. Features on-board accommodations to allow for truly self-sufficient flight, including crew medical and repair facilities, and a mapping-oriented sensor suite capable of always charting a route home!”

The last stretch goal at $32 million unlocked a new ship in the way of the Aegis Surveyor, an "industrial-quality salvage ship" that’s all abut deep-space exploration and salvage. While it’s not loaded with cannons, it’s got tons of storage space and reinforced hulls.

the most recent goal of real import though was the $29 Million mark, which unlocked a ton of single player content, which Roberts Space Industries says will include enhanced mission design and more resources and animations to enhance fidelity, to help make Star Citizen a “true spiritual successor to Wing Commander.”

Check it out.

If you’re a fan of Roberts’ games, there’s a heck of a lot to be excited about – it combines the best of Wing commander and Freelancer. by the time you’ve finished reading this, they’re probably well on their way to $34 million.

I couldn’t believe how much cash they raised this week with the ship sales. Some people have way too much money lol Most of what was on offer was well over $100 each, over $1k in the case of the Idris corvettes.

Unfortunately it won’t be coming to consoles…

Like they said, if Sony and MS can actually agree that they can update their code without restrictions or QR procedures and allow all platforms to be able to communicate with each other, then they will consider it.

I said the other day it would be cool if they brought the SP portion of the game to the next-gen consoles. Don’t really see why not. The MP portion I can understand with the restrictions & all.

Remember folks at $50 million you unlock imperial class destroyers. $75 million for death stars and $100 million we send Justin Bieber on a one way ticket to the moon.

Just a bit of information from last nights livestream:
The guy who made Iron Man 3 HUD’s is now doing the HUD’s for Star Citizen. It will be 3D so when you have your Occulus Rift on there will be depth to the HUD and you will see it from outside in 3rd person mode. The colour will be customisable and it can be damaged and taken down with EMP mines and weapons.

The texture and materials will now make use of PBR and it makes materials such as metal, plastic etc looks incredibly realistic. This means they have to redo a lot of stuff, but it will pay off in the long run.

Each ship has an incredible amount of systems controlling each aspect of the ship, each upgradable or even overclockable.

Motion capture is a step above anything available right now and referenced Ryse for facial animation and PBR to be a improvement on.

They are busy talking with Saitek for a Star Citizen joystick.

And just some trivia: There where 4 batches of 100 ships going at $1250 each, which sold out every time in less than a minute.
