...and one is a bitch.

According to Blizzard, the middle of the three slices that make up the entirety of StarCraft II is nearing completion. Lead designer Dustin Browder, speaking to Kotaku, confirmed that Heart of the Swarm Is 99% complete.

The problem, however, is that the remaining “1% is a bitch.”

Anybody who understands Blizzard Time knows that the game being nearly complete doesn’t exactly signal an imminent release – but Browder affirms that the game is playable, and just in need of a spit and polish.

“There’s something in for everything—it’s whether we like it or not that’s an open question. It’s the tuning and polish that really takes us a long time, and that’s where we get into the unknowns.

“Like we could do a play-through next week that we’re like, ‘Wow this is really great.’ Or we could do a play-through and we still have 250 items we wanna fix. You know, historically speaking we’re doing pretty well. We’re getting there. But I don’t know for sure yet when we’ll be done.”

Blizzard made a somewhat controversial decision to split StarCraft II in to three – as a base game with two expansion packs. Picking up where Wings of Liberty left off, the zerg-focused Heart of the Swarm is now 99% complete.

No word on when Diablo III will reach a similar level of completion.
