Stealth horror game Hello Neighbor wants you to find out what’s going on next door

Hello Neighbor

A game about slinking about next door, all the while avoiding its inhabitant at all costs? An inhabitant mind you, that’s not a monster, or a demon, or a ghost, but rather, just some creepy dude with a moustache? That doesn’t sound very scary at all, does it?

That’s what I thought too, but that was before I saw the trailer for Hello Neighbor. The game actually looks downright terrifying!

Don’t believe me? I don’t blame you. Take a gander and you’ll see exactly what I mean though…

Hello Neighbor is a stealth horror game about sneaking into your neighbor’s house to figure out what horrible secrets he’s hiding in the basement. You play against an advanced AI that learns from your every move. Really enjoying climbing through that backyard window? Expect a bear trap there. Sneaking through the front door? There’ll be cameras there soon. Trying to escape? The Neighbor will find a shortcut and catch you.

Holy hell, how tense was that? Normally, I shy away from horror games (very, very far away), but after having seen the video above, I must admit that I am incredibly intrigued by Hello Neighbor. Honestly, I want to play it!

And don’t worry, I will. I’ll even record myself doing so as soon as I get my hands on some early code.

I say early code because Hello Neighbor won’t be out for quite a while I’m afraid. It’s release date is pegged for Summer 2017, which is quite a way away still (June or so next year). According to the publisher however, tinyBuild, a playable build is going out next week already. If you’d like to potentially get your hands on it, be sure to sign up for the alpha.

I’m pretty sure there’s a code with my name on it already, because the universe hates me. I’m going to regret my interest in this game, aren’t I?
