Steam’s Exploration sale slashes price on thousands of games

Ori

Steam Sales. They’re the best and worst things to happen with each seasonal change. The “Fall” sale has kicked off, with Valve expecting you to take a deep dive through the huge catalogue of games it has on offer – thousands of which have had their prices slashed. While the newly-changed South African Steam has fewer games than the US one (7844 to 8762), there are still many, many worthwhile games on special for you to blow your salary on – because your backlog’s aren’t big enough already.

We already know that they won’t be doing those flash sales, instead rotating different specials on their featured page every day – so it’s still worth popping over and having a look every day. Or you could just wade through everything now, if you have that sort of time.

There are some rather good specials, and I’d be silly not to recommend one of my favourite games of this year, which is currently going for 40% off. Ori and the Blind Forest is one of the year’s best games, and one of the very best platformers in the Metroidvania-style ever made. It’s currently R131.40 which is very nearly nothing.

There are other gems, of course. The excellent Cities: Skylines (which made SimCity look silly) is 50% off, and is now R159.50 on Steam. Current survival game du jour – yes, the one with Dinosaurs! – ARK: Survival Evolved is going for just R191.40. The entire Tom Clancy franchise is %50 off too, and will now run you just R522 or thereabouts for 13 games.

Here are some other great big specials for your consideration:

  • Sid Meier’s Civilization Franchise: 33-75% off
  • Company of Heroes Franchise: 75% off
  • Endless Legend Collection: 66% off
  • H1Z1: 35% off
  • Fallout Franchise: 66-75% off
  • Call of Duty Black Ops 3: 17% off
  • Rocket League: 30% off
  • The Walking Dead: 75% off
  • The Witcher 3: 50% off
  • Grand Theft Auto 5: 40% off

Seeing anything you’ll be buying form the Exploration sale? Let us know. Also, Get Ori and the Blind Forest. Do it.

I’m glad I walked away from Wildstar (managed to get in during the first Beta tests) wasn’t blown away, but enjoyed it. Certain classes were too OP while others were meh , “I’m looking at you Spellslinger.”

          • VampyreSquirrel

            November 27, 2015 at 13:21

Haha, the spellslinger is still a bit OP’d, but it’s a cool time kill… you don’t HAVE to play it constantly to get a lot out of the game.

          • ElNicko

            November 27, 2015 at 13:25

True. I lost far too much time into WOW-Crack.

            November 27, 2015 at 13:28

Yeah I know them feels… I lost a lot of time to WoW… leveling 7 characters to 90 with 3/7 having full raiding gear, and 4/7 having full PvP gear… total time sink.

It’s like going through a museum combined with a flea market. Some of the games are ancient while I’ve never heard of the others. No wonder people never have to upgrade.
