How many people bought suikoden

Suikoden was one of my favorite franchises. Unfortunately, many people in the West have no idea what I’m talking about. Well, that used to be the case – with Konami’s game getting a release on the PSN, it’s getting a new life, and hopefully a revival.

Suikoden and Suikoden II topped the US PlayStation chart over the holidays, beating out games including Final Fantasy VII, Bully and Resident Evil 2. For those who’ve never played them, this might seem surprising. However, Suikoden games are one of the best experiences you could ever hope for.

The premises of the Suikoden games are all quite similar and follow the same formula. You must fight against the bad elements by recruiting 108 Stars of Destiny to your cause. This basically means traveling around the world and convincing people to join you. Your headquarters typically starts as a dilapidated castle or town that grows into a bustling community as you bring onboard cooks, inn-keepers, merchants and a variety of fighters. The games are multifaceted – I remember getting a serious kick out of the cooking competitions when visiting my HQ after a busy trip killing monsters and recruiting a blacksmith.

This could only mean one thing – people finally care about Suikoden and are discovering how glorious a franchise it is. Now if only Konami could take notice. Please Konami, please make an all new Suikoden game. It could be beautiful and complex on new generation consoles (and PC, of course), offering players a modern version of this excellent classic. Oh, who am I kidding? Konami never listens to popular demand.

Yup yup, so that means if you want to play on the US account you have to be logged into that account to play or you have to link that one.
