There once was  a time when there’d be a good – if not great – downloadable title on Xbox Live Arcade every week, but it seems like Microsoft’s gotten in t the habit of hoarding them all so they can be released close together and given a fancy collective name. Yup, it’s time for the Xbox Live Summer of Arcade again! The games on offer this time around are quite worth purchasing – particularly Supergiant Games’ delightful RPG Bastion, Ubisoft’s beautiful populous successor From Dust (from Out of this world/Another World’s Eric Chahi) and Fuelcell’s mesmerising Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet.

Rounding it all out are Fruit Ninja Kinect and Toy Soldier : Cold War. Purchasing all five Summer of Arcade games nets you  a free copy of Crimson Alliance by Certain Affinity – valued at 1200 Microsoft Points. Details and video after the jump.

"Bastion" (Supergiant Games/Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment)
Release Date: 20 July
Price: 1200 Microsoft Points

"From Dust" (Ubisoft Montpellier/Ubisoft)
Release Date: 27 July
Price: 1200 Microsoft Points

"Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet"(Fuelcell/Microsoft Studios)
Release Date: 3 August
Price: 1200 Microsoft Points

"Fruit Ninja Kinect"(Halfbrick/Microsoft Studios)
Release Date: 10 August
Price: 800 Microsoft Points

"Toy Soldiers: Cold War"(Signal Studios/Microsoft Studios)
Release Date: 17 August
Price: 1200 Microsoft Points

Picking any of those up? After Seeing them at E3, I’m definitely picking up Bastion, From Dust and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. I’ll probably end up getting Fruit Ninja too – but I have close to no love for Toy Soldiers.
