I know what you’re thinking. You are thinking… “Dammit Capcom, I think that saying Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition is just too easy, I want to have to say and write more”. Well good news for you then!

Capcom have been making some peculiar choices of late, like canceling Megaman, announcing an Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and now realizing that the balancing in SSFIV: AE is a little broken.

So then, who’s ready for SSFIVAEV2012. I wish I was joking.

At a Street Fighter panel held during the EVO 2011 tournament that took place in Las Vegas this past weekend, the games quirky producer Yoshinori Ono brought the news that they will be patching SSFIV: AE before the end of the year to fix some glaring issues with overpowered characters that have become apparent over the past months.

The patch will, unlike previous ‘updates’, be completely free and not come with any additional content other than the rebalancing. The official title given to the patch will be Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Version 2012.

Jeepers.

The patch is planned for later this year, and while some gamers might sigh at the idea of patches and rebalancing, the Street Fighter community broke out into cheers at the news, the reason being that the character Yun made up 8 of the top 32 players’ characters, with Fei Long making up 13 of the 32, meaning that 21 of 32 players were using those two characters.

For a devout Street Fighter IV player like me, I’m always happy to see rebalancing done like this. Some great characters have finally been able to shine with the AE balancing, so more will be even better… well… as long as they don’t screw it up.

Although no announcements have been made from Capcom, we fully expect a SSFIVAEV2012EXTurboBossHDRemix to be revealed later this year.
