BF4

EA and DICE’s Battlefield 4 will be getting an official reveal next week, where we’ll learn all manner of neat thing about their next-generation shooter. Until then, we’ll have to make do with teasers – and so far, for Battlefield 4, there are two. The big thing worth noting here is that the first such teasers suggests there might be a bigger emphasis on naval battles. The other is a little more terrestrial. I don’t think it’ll be too long until we see one showing something a little more aerial.

I say, wait a bit longer and see what the other sites say. In my book, IGN doesn’t matter, so that 9.4 (while nice) is being discarded. I have confidence in Lord Levine, but I have no trust for IGNorant.

I heard it’s going to have an in depth Single-player campaign complete with a rich and detailed narrative morality system and deep character customization …. psych! it’s just a point to point shooter 🙂 but hey we all know battlefield has good multiplayer

Even if it’s a cheesy SP campaign then it’s going to be hell off fun but this is DICE we are talking about 🙂

    My two cents |

I’m a huge fan of battlefield, but I’m kind of getting tired of the “Call of Duty”-like imitation cover art. I get it, EA is desperately trying to capture the imagination of Gavin and all those 12 years olds who can’t get enough of Call of Duty. The funny thing is, that for the rest of us, anything that remotely smells of Call of Duty (duuuuuttyyy – Wreck it Ralph), brings an instant groan from the peanut gallery.

A Banana on Singleplayer Campaign |

A game that I’m currently enjoying is Operation Flashpoint: Red River. If you can get away from the Jarhead/braindead (and apparently authentic) marine “speak” (god help us all), the game’s mechanics and design elements are superb. Sure, it looks crap, but who cares about graphics right? Except for little gamer girls, who want pretty things.

The way, you’re not playing second fiddle to your squad, but rather the squad leader and ordering them to cover you, or lay down suppressive fire, or support you is INCREDIBLE. Red River is arguably my favourite combat shooter on the consoles (Arma fits that bill on PC). I wish that Battlefield would take a page out of Flashpoint (or even Arma’s) play book, and create the definitive war game (instead of yawn… corridor shooter..yawn).

I have yet to finish the single player campaign in Battlefield, and it’s exactly because it’s so absolute… freaking corridor-tastic DULL! It’s stupid. The story is stupid, and the set pieces are stupid. Medal of Honor Warfighter for all the hate it got, actually had a single-player campaign, albeit stuck in the corridor that actually told a decent story. Battlefield 3’s campaign is the most vacuous pile of horse manure ever created…

Fortunately, the game redeems itself online. And holy crap… is it awesome!

I was about to rip you a new one for all the flame, but you redeemed yourself at the end when you gave it the credit it deserves. BF3 is fraking awesome!

I can agree that the SP story wasn’t the best, but I enjoyed it none the less. Granted that ppl will eventually lead into MP and spend most of their gaming time there, after they’ve played the SP. I don’t know much about Operation Flashpoint, but I would say that taking some things from the ARMA series won’t hurt. Although, the games are different in their own ways, otherwise all combat shooters will eventually becomes pretty much the same game. CoD has died in my books, but BF stays true to my heart no matter what they do.

The BF teasers gets me quite excited as it doesn’t particularly reveal too much. Will it be another modern era shooter like BF3, or could the submarine be an indication that they might be visiting the WW2 era? I personally would enjoy playing again WW2 style BF on todays tech. You can’t deny that most WW2 shooters was a lot of fun 🙂

I would love for all the COD fanatics to discover Arma. I think their minds would be blown.

And.. can we stop plunking IGN with the rest of the Gaming Media.

IGN is a for-hire PR/Marketing firm. They don’t do reviews, they don’t do game commentary. They are… the MARKETING branch of the Game’s industry! Their reviews no longer matter. They are not credible.
