Swarm overruns consoles next week

At the beginning of last month, our fearless leader (Gavin) posted a two part demo clip for Hothead Games’ upcoming downloadable title Swarm. The game will be landing on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade next week.

For those who haven’t heard of the game (or seen it in action) check out Gavin’s post here. Swarm looks like a neat melding together of Lemmings and Pikmin, although you control the swarm of blue beasties directly.

The game will arrive on the US PSN next week Tuesday (22 March); the UK PSN will likely get it the next day, which means the South African PSN store won’t be much later. The game will hit XBLA on Wednesday 23 March as well.

According to Hothead:

“Swarm lets players take control of 50 utterly fearless Swarmites and drive them through an intense, entertaining and often suicidal battle of survival. Run, bash, huddle, boost, stack, jump, push and throw your way through gauntlets of death and destruction in an attempt to collect valuable DNA and ensure that at least one Swarmite survives.”

No mention of price has been given, but here is some silly marketing from Hothead that does a good job in conveying the tone you can expect to find throughout the game. Bring on the macabre humour!
