Take a look at Dark Souls 3’s first DLC, Ashes of Ariandel

Dark Souls III is a fitting conclusion to a series of games that have taught a new generation of gamers about patience. It’s a bit like this generations Mega-Man, or Ghosts and Goblins in many respects – but I’m veering off course in that rambly wat old men do when they wax nostalgic.

Anyway, Dark Souls III is a fantastic game, helmed by the man who started it all – Hidetaka Miyazaki. It may be the last game in the Dark Souls series, but it’s not quite the end. Dark Souls III is getting its first DLC on October 25, and it brings with it a number of new weapons, bosses and new areas to explore. And in which to die.

“Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel continues FromSoftware’s track record of providing best-in-class post game downloadable content support,” said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing for Bandai Namco Entertainment America in a press release. “With hours of new challenges, new bosses, new mysterious locations to explore, new items to obtain, and new ways to challenge other players online, it’s the perfect time to jump back into one of the best games of 2016.”

According to said release, the expansion will hit PC, Xbox One and PS4 on October 25, at a price of $15 or your local equivalent. It’s also part of the $25 season pass, which will include a second expansion expected in early 2017.

Take a look.

“Return to the world of Dark Souls III and uncover a terrible secret that lies within the frozen land of Ariandel. Players will find themselves steeped in a brand new environment filled with terrifying new enemies, challenges, and exciting lore to expand the overarching Dark Souls III storyline.”

Heh, so that’s why the game is on special on Steam now – there’s new DLC coming out.

Man, I still need to finish DS3! Still stuck on that one boss fight near the end. Super annoying.

Yup. I’ve come so close to killing them so many times. Sometimes the little guy is 2 or three hits away from being dead. Other times, they just squash me like a bug.
Been a couple of months since I’ve tried them again though.

As long as you can make peace with the fact that you will die, very often in a boss fight when the boss is one hit away from being dead and it’s the 50th time you attempted it, your controller will be fine.

To be honest, it is not that frustrating as people say it is. You will struggle but if you pay attention you will learn each new enemy and get past them.

I also thought I will get too frustrated… I skipped Dark Souls and started with DS 2 … after I finished DS2, I immediately bought DS3 … I so want to play Blood Souls too, wish I had a PS4 console ….

I bought DS1, but the graphics hung me up a bit so I threw it on the backlog of no return xD

Gfx were fine if you just installed the mod to fix them. I played for about 70 hours, got distracted, then just uninstalled because I didn’t feel like going through the learning curve again & couldn’t remember what I was supposed to be doing either.

You must retrieve it from that backlog and play it. Amazing.

You referring to Bloodborne? It is rather amazing. Horror version of DS, strong Lovecraftian influences.

To all the dark souls players. Which do you find to be the most fair DSII or DSIII? I personally think II is much more fair than III and a better game overall.

The setting feels like a cross between The Painted World of Ariamis and Eleum Loyce
