The TEK Tier update will bring sci-fi endgame content to ARK: Survival Evolved

For a game that’s still in Steam Early Access, ARK: Survival Evolved sure does have a lot of content packed into it. Over the past year or so, Studio Wildcard have done nothing but bolster their dino-riding simulator with extra goodies.

We’re talking new locales, extra creatures to tame (or avoid), and more. Heck, the studio have even gone so far as to release a spin off game (that later got pulled pack into the main ARK package), and on top of that, an expansion.

It’s been one hell of a ride to release to say the least, but Studio Wildcard are not done just yet. If you thought that ARK had reached the tip of its technologic cap, you’d be very wrong. The TEK Tier update will take the game even further into future.

The TEK Tier will put players in power armor granting them advanced abilities, and add powerful TEK saddles with mounted energy weapons to the capabilities of some favorite dinos. Want to snipe at enemy tribes with a plasma rifle while tearing across the map with a jet pack? How about living under the ocean in a vacuum sealed Underwater Base, fully protected from the hazards of land and sky? Look for all of this and much more as the TEK Tier rolls out in free updates to ARK: Survival Evolved on Steam PC and Xbox One in the coming weeks and months.

Is it just me, or does this new TEK Tier update look exactly like Halo with dinosaurs, or I don’t know, the lovechild of Power Rangers and an open world exploration title? Neither scenarios are bad mind you, it’s just unexpected to see ARK head this far into the future.

The TEK Tier update will be out in early 2017 apparently. I wonder if its launch will coincide with the actual release of ARK? I think it’s about time Studio Wildcard just went ahead and greenlit their game already, at least before they head into space or something.
