Tekken 7’s fiery intro gets heated

Tekken

Is 2015 the year of the fighting game? Maybe. Last year we had to give our award to Smash Bros because it was the only new big fighting game to release, but this year there’s going to be a ton. While my heart is set on Mortal Kombat X and Geoff keeps shouting at us about Street Fighter V, Bandai Namco is also promising something big.

Tekken already had a convoluted storyline. But this new opening cinematic shows off more than hot moves – we get a glimpse into more of the backstory. It still makes no sense, but it’s sorta fun to watch.

The eruption of battle is quite something; I love how heated things get. Oh that’s it, I’m out of fire puns. The last embers of my wit have been snuffed out.

I like the revival of all these fighting games. It’s been a while since we had so many all at once. I remember spending far too many hours playing Mortal Kombat, as well as Tekken Tag. I was never good enough at Street Fighter though – that’s definitely Geoff’s area of expertise and not mine. Still, it’s cool to see the whole range all at once; it highlights their differences instead of all merging into one mess of a genre.

Which franchise grabbed you the most? I’m primarily a Mortal Kombat fighter – I have been ever since Mortal Kombat II in the SNES days. But Tekken has been entertaining and has the worst movie ever made. It’s so hard to choose, I suppose they’ll have to battle it out for our wallets.

Right?

I can’t get into Mortal Kombat, no matter how hard I try. Pressing a button to block is just too much for my brain to handle. Street Fighter and King of Fighters is where its at. Tekken is my favorite fighter out of the 3D brawlers.

It’s a massive tie between MKX and Tekken 7 for me. But sure as hell, I’m getting both.

He lives, Hows it going? Phone fixed yet? It’s true that MK has a much richer story than Tekken.

Heihachi is so awesome. The only one in the family not having to resort to the Devil Gene(not that it’s even part of him) This trailer gave me goosebumps everywhere.

Jin and Kazuya are the only ones that can shoot those wussy eye beams while Heihachi breaks your face with a headtbutt.

LOL That bald head isn’t just for show!! As much as those moves are really cheap, Devil Jin just looks way too cool.

It’s nice to see Capcom finally releasing a fifth sequel. Hard to believe the series is turning 28 this year.

Soul Callibur, DoA, Virtua Fighter, Tekken, MK…I hope all of them get a good release on the current generation of consoles! Especially SC and DoA – “next gen”-bewb physics haha. No seriously, DoA and SC are a lot of fun with friends, much more than the rest for me.

The main problem with the movie was as follows: About half way through, kid + Zoe + Heihachi escape. Was watching with my wife (got the movie free with tekken 6 game) and we discussed how cool the movie is about to get: A resistance movement, with HeiHachi and kid at the fore, rising up against the evil Devil / Kazuya and setting right the wrongs. We thought individual fights, cause tekken, form part of the bigger battles, in a clever way. Boy were we wrong.

I can’t remember anything about the movie other than the woman in white. And I only remember that because I thought she was really hot. The rest was in one ear (eye ball) and out the other, like most things I watch.

Soul Calibre. For speed and sheer fun, for casual players like wife and me, is just a load more fun than Tekken. We sort of grew up on Tekken, but it has fallen out of favour
