It’s really just days until the hugely anticipated Batman: Arkham Knight is released – and many eager Batfans are waiting patiently for the sought after, but terribly expensive Batmobile Collector’s Edition. They’ll be waiting forever. It’s been cancelled.
According to UK retailer GAME, Warner and Rocksteady have cancelled the CE over quality concerns.
“Regrettably, due to unforeseen circumstances that greatly compromised the quality of the Batmobile, included within the Batman Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition, Warner Bros has decided not to release this product,” GAME stated in its email to customers.
This might come as a hard kick to the face to fans who shelled out for the ludicrously expensive, ludicrously aesome special edition, which included a replica batmobile, along with:
- 80 page custom art book – 80 Page, Full Colour Art Book Showcasing the concept art of Batman Arkham Knight.
- Unique SteelBook case and game disc.
- Limited Edition DC Comics Batman: Arkham Knight #0 Comic Book.
- Exclusive Character Skin Pack, which includes three unique skins from DC Comics’ The New 52.
Customers are being refunded, and given the option to purchase alternate, not quite as awesome collector’s editions instead.
Batman: Arkham Knight will be out on 23rd June for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The Batmobile edition won’t. Next time they should Warner brother.
It’s really just further incentive to me to not pre-order anything, and tells me that these special editions are usually made on the cheap, but I’m a grumpy, cynical sod, so what do I know?

“As we (weren’t) (Never) getting it anyway.”
(Weren’t) X ( Never) = Were.
Therefore:
“As we weren’t never getting it anyway” = “As we were getting it anyway”
Huh. Look at that. It is a double negative….

wtf are they doing?
they also cancelled the normal “special edition” a couple of weeks ago and downgraded me to the vanilla edition of the game.
now theyr cancelling collectors editions, all this after the less than stellar reviews, lost fanbase after Arkham Origins and Arkham Origins abysmal seasons pass? wasnt the game delayed aswell so it wouldnt have to compete with witcher?
This hardly seems like an effective business plan.

i know it is wrong to laugh but i cannot help myself here… i mean they waited a week before release to announce this. Surely these would be been ready for shipping on release day… Thankfully i pre-rder the collectors edition
