The Art of Sierra – now in hardcover book form!

You know, every now and then some gaming news comes about that totally rocks my ordinarily mundane little world. This happens to be one of those examples and right now my world is rocking so hard that I’m running the risk of spewing my lunch all over the office.

Of course, something as biblically awesome as a hardcover book chock-full of concept art and screens from Sierra’s catalogue of adventure games won’t be appreciated by all of you. That’s not because you have no soul or anything, it’s because you might be too young to know that a company called Sierra even existed way back when.

Sierra games (the Quest for Glory and King’s Quest series being two examples) had fantastic art direction, which is largely why they were such a hit. Now, thanks to Eriq Chang and Brandon Klassen we have an entire collection of the best bits from Sierra to look forward to in a very classy coffee-table book. There’s no release date yet, but you can follow their progress on their Facebook page.

I cannot wait to see the end product and I will be ordering a copy off Amazon if we’re unfortunate enough not to see a local release. I have vivid memories of EcoQuest and its sequel The Lost Secret of the Rainforest as being my two most beloved Sierra titles when growing up.
