What? Did we read that right? Did Hollywood green-light a movie based on the popular lineage of assassins, produce and finish it, in super duper quadruple secrecy? Yes and no to those questions, as Assassins Creed: Embers is an official entry into that universe, but its not a live action piece of cinematography.
As part of the collectors editions for AC: Revelations, as well as for download on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live marketplace, Embers will detail the final phase in Ezio Auditore’s life, as he completes a journey that has spanned over four decades. Using cell shading technology to produce the animations for the short film, Embers looks like a fantastic piece of work so far, thanks to the team at UbiWorkshop, a division of Ubisoft that specialises in creating films based on their franchises.
This isn’t the first time that Ubisoft has released a short film based on their popular franchise, as AC: Lineage was released in time for the first sequel, and followed the exploits of Ezio’s father as he attempted to thwart a conspiracy.
