Street Fighter versus Tekken may be going strong at this stage, with numerous videos showing how well the roster of Iron Fist brawlers gel with the Street Fighter cast on their 2D turf, but on the other side of the crossover coin are some interesting design challenges, as Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada explains.

"Maybe I shouldn’t say this, as I mean no disrespect to Ono-san, but Ryu and Ken will probably be even better in 3D”, Harada explained in an interview with Destructoid. While characters such as Yoshimitsu and Hwoarang have transitioned surprisingly well to the 2D play style of Street Fighter, Harada has admitted that Street Fighter characters such as E Honda, Dhalsim and Blanka have created a unique challenge for the development studio, due to their screen stretching special attacks.

Seeing as how such characters are only really effective in a 2D environment, trying to integrate their attacks in Tekken’s signature 3D arenas might create a possibility where those fighters don’t make the final cut for the game, but at least Street Fighter has a massive library of characters available for selection.

However, seeing as how Tekken versus Street Fighter is still in the early stages of development, such issues might be ironed out eventually.
