DivisionI’m seriously excited for The Division. It looks like one of those crazy games with an awesome premise that will be a ridiculous amount of fun. So how is it being developed?

Executive Producer Fredrik Rundqvist explains that The Division’s workload is divided among those best suited to the job:

It´s part of the Ubisoft DNA to develop big titles across many studios, to bring developers from different places and expertise together. “The Division” is going to be part of that structure. As the lead studio, the majority of design and directing the game is and will be done out of Massive, but we are very likely to work with one or several other Ubisoft studios on various aspects of the game. This is a great way to share talent, learn from each other and thus provide an even better experience for the games.

Sounds pretty good to me. This game is only supposed to come out at the end of next year, but I’m not sure that I can wait so long. I just hope that all the chefs don’t ruin the soup on this one. But really, I’m excited to play this game to death – I really like what they’ve done with the second screen. Sure, it may divide (see what I did there?) your attention, but I think it will add a cool experience. Game Director, Ryan Barnard explains:

We are creating a second-screen experience that will be really meaningful for the game. It will be a whole new experience for the group, through simultaneous and asymmetric gameplay between the mobile device and the console/PC game. Companion gamers will be able to seamlessly join the game, anywhere they want, as an actual character. The drone is a persistent character that you can level up in gear, weapons and skills. From the team’s stand point, it gives an edge for tactical combat, as well exploration from a bird’s eye view.

Is this one of the next gen games you’re desperate for? Will you be playing it on console, PC or companion app?

I’m not the greatest shooter, so I’ll carry the supplies. I’m very skilled at running away, so rest assured that all your stuff will be safe.

I’m particularly good at killing a lot of people at once when startled, just put an LMG in my hands.

Thats pretty much what the last gameplay video showed, person sitting on their tablet flygin the drone, highlighting baddies and flushing them out of cover.

super usefull, bots in superior cover are annoying as shit.

    Very excited for this.

On a different note: Getting pretty tired (no offense to your homeworld Zoe) of having New York City in every game and every series these days. Originality please people.

To easy: Capture Bryan Habana, stick him full of bacon and ten rand notes and chase him past Newlands to Greenpoint stadium. WPRU will follow.

Wow I really do hope so! As a civil engineer myself I would hate to see such a fantastic structure go to waste. I mean, have you seen it?! The roof hangs on a tension ring! There are no pillars holding it up!

Yup, been there a few times. Love the stadium. They’re planning a casino in there (obviously not on the field), which I actually think is a good idea. It generates revenue, isn’t noisy and brings people to the stadium. Once WP and Stormers start playing there, the stadium will be much busier, which is a great thing.

To me this was the best looking game of E3 by far. This is worth next gen alone for me. I hope the story was already completed before tom clancys untimely death (RIP)

I guess that means we shouldn’t expect a sequel?
